The Embassy of Serbia has honor to present in collaboration with Kennedy Centre

Belgrade Piano Duo,  Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at 6 pm, Kennedy Centre, Millennium Stage. Concert is free and open for public.

Founded in 1997 by Daniela Bratkovic and Janko Djokovic, the duo performs works by Josif Marinkovic, Ivan Jeftic, Mihailo Živanovic, and more.

 

Belgrade Piano Duo (Daniela Bratkovic and Janko Djokovic) was founded in 1997 in Professor Ingrid Rajicâ's classroom of the chamber music department at Belgrade's Faculty of Music. Since then, the duo has been performing extensively domestically and abroad. They have performed at major international competitions (International Piano Duo competitions "Ciudad de San Sebastian", San Sebastian, Spain, First Special Prize, "Chopin" Rome, Italy, Second Prize, "Petar Konjovic", Belgrade, Serbia, First Prize, National Competition, Belgrade, Serbia First Prize, Federal Competition, Nis, Serbia First Prize, Federal Competition, Belgrade, Serbia First Prize), as well as numerous concerts and festivals (33rd "BEMUS" International Music Festival, Belgrade, Serbia, First Memorial "Isidor Bajic", Novi Sad, Serbia, Fifth International Chorus Festival, Kragujevac, Serbia, concert performances in Nova Gorica, Slovenia, Zakopane, Poland, numerous cities in Serbia, and performances at the closing ceremonies of competitions in Rome and San Sebastian).
Ms. Bratkovic and Mr. Djokovic both graduated from the Faculty of Music in Belgrade and as a piano duo they have taken part in numerous master classes including those of Elena Sorokina and Alexander Bachtchiev (professors, Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Moscow), Paul Gulda (professor, Vienna Musikuniversitaet), Pavel Nersesian (professor, Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Moscow), Jury Kot (professor, Kiev Conservatory, Ukraine), and Hans-Peter and Volker Stenzl (professors, University of Rostock).
Their most recent project is a collaboration with Belgrade percussionists Srdjan Palackovic and Ivan Marjanovic, with whom they performed Ravel's Ma Mere l'Oye, Rapsodie Espagnole, and Kim Helweg's America Fantasy. 
When not performing, both Ms. Bratkovic and Mr. Djokovic teach piano at Belgrade's premier music school, Mokranjac.
